Implementing a strategic approach to interoperability for health plans and healthcare providers

The Interoperability and Patient Access final rule

With the intent to give patients the ability to more easily and securely access their own health information and data at no cost, whether from a government health plan or a healthcare provider, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued its Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (CMS-9115-F). The rule, finalized in March 2020, also requires the adoption of a standards-based data format to drive health information data exchange across industry stakeholders and further innovation in healthcare. Download the whitepaper for components of the final rule along with some useful tips for organizations to utilize while getting started.
